A Texas High School football player died at a pool party where students were reportedly drinking underage.
The report says Adan De La Cruz was reportedly attempting to jump off a gazebo when he slipped and died due to injuries from the impact.
Police have charged Emma Sofia De la Cruz, 17, and Mateo Areli Castillo, 17, who furnished alcohol to minors. Emma was arraigned in the McAllen Municipal Court on Thursday and received a bond of $25,000, according to Central Valley.
The McAllen Police Department responded to the scene at 2 a.m. on Saturday, August 17, in the 4700 block of Bensten Road.
Police found Adan De La Cruz unconscious after attempting to jump from the roof into the pool but landed on the ground, head and neck first, according to police documents.
As an officer arrived, he was waved down by people at the back of the property, where screaming could be heard. The officer noted that music was playing and there were numerous Michelob Ultra beer cans and red plastic cups.
Police noticed a laceration on the back of Adan’s neck, a man was giving him chest compressions.
De La Cruz was a linebacker at Nikki Rowe High School.
Please keep De la Cruz’s family in your prayers.
