2025 NFL Draft Scouting Report: Tanner Koziol, TE, Ball State

- Name: Tanner Koziol
- Position, College: TE – Ball State
- Games Watched: ILNO (2022-in person), OHTO (2023), GAUN (2023), ILNO (2023-in person)
Junior. Committed to Louisville as a transfer, then returned to Ball State last winter. Really caught my attention v. Northern Illinois in 2022, where he dominated. Very good, lean frame – looks the part and towers over the entire team – and has plenty of room to grow. Above average receiver, above average run blocker; skills in pass protection need evaluated further as he plays in a run-heavy offense. As a receiver, he is above average. Displays solid hands and can get yards after contact. Runs through tackles and finishes forward. Is a big target especially in the back of the EZ, where his height creates matchup problems. Can extend, leap, and high point the ball. Lacks explosiveness off the LOS and a quick first step. Needs to improve as a route runner to create separation, oftentimes allows himself to get roughed up downfield instead of getting open. As a run blocker, he is above average.
Shows good inside hand placement, decent knee bend. Can neutralize opposing edge players one-on-one. Finish/mean streak is up and down; will have times where he can drive defenders off the ball, other times will let his man back in on the play. Overextends when blocking in space – needs to play within his frame. Untested in pass pro, but plays in a run-heavy offense. Size and athleticism give him a chance.
Tanner is an above average run blocker and receiver. His size, frame and athleticism give him a chance to be a legitimate prospect.
