Pat Tillman’s Mother is Pissed ESPN gave Prince Harry the Pat Tillman Award for Service
ESPN is in some hot water. According to an interview with the Daily Mail, Pat Tillman’s mother Mary is not happy they chose Prince Harry to win the Pat Tillman Award for Service.
Mary Tillman, the mother of the former NFL safety that lost his life to friendly fire says there are many better and more qualified people to receive the award.
“I am shocked as to why they would select such a controversial and divisive individual to receive the award.”
Tillman’s mother says she was not contacted by ESPN in regards to the selection. Last year the honor went to the Buffalo Bills training staff for saving Damar Hamlin‘s life after he went into cardiac arrest on the field.
I was contacted by an ESPN spokesperson who made this statement:
“ESPN, with the support of the Tillman Foundation, is honoring Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, specifically for the work of The Invictus Games Foundation as it celebrates its 10th year promoting healing through the power of sport for military service members and veterans around the world. While we understand not everyone will agree with all honorees selected for any award, The Invictus Games Foundation does incredible work and ESPN believes this is a cause worth celebrating.”
Mary Tillman is not associated with the Pat Tillman Foundation and has never been involved with the selection of recipients nor been informed of previous recipients when they were selected, according to the email we received as well.
What do you think? Does Prince Harry deserve this award?
