Minnesota Vikings Rookie Khyree Jackson Passes Away in An Auto Accident
There are reports on Saturday morning that Minnesota Vikings fourth-round rookie cornerback Khyree Jackson passed away. He was involved in a car accident in Maryland.
Jackson played for Alabama to start his collegiate career but then transferred to Oregon for the 2023 season. He recorded 34 total tackles, five tackles for loss, two sacks, three interceptions, and seven passes defended. The former Duck saw his prospects rise at the Senior Bowl, where he stood out among the nation’s best defensive backs. He had an outstanding Combine performance as well. The offseason process saw him drafted in the fourth round by the Vikings. We had the pleasure of interviewing him in Mobile, and it was clear that Jackson was a joy to be around. That interview can be found below.
The 24-year-old rookie was just one month away from his 25th birthday when he passed in a car accident. Minnesota drafted him to compete for a backup cornerback role if not outright starting, if things went well for the young man.
He had a remarkable story of returning to college football and journeying to the NFL.
Tributes
Oregon head coach Dan Lanning was among many who paid tribute to him on social media.
Jackson’s high school team also posted a tribute.
Former Oregon teammate and Broncos rookie receiver Troy Franklin posted this on his Instagram.
Jackson had so much potential in his career and life, and it is genuinely heartbreaking to see him robbed of realizing it in such a tragic way. Rest in Peace, Mr. Jackson. We will forever honor your memory. Fly high! Once a Duck, Forever a Duck! May the Gjallarhorn ring forever in your honor!

We at NFL Draft Diamonds send our condolences to the Jackson family, friends, teammates, and loved ones during this difficult time.
