University of Incarnate Word football signee charged with manslaughter for fatal assault
Jeremy Obregon, an 18-year-old star football player in Texas was arrested for manslaughter after the man he beat up died.
Thomas Weaver, 42 died in the hospital after an altercation with Obregon. Obregon was a star football player in Texas who signed his letter of intent to play at the University of Incarnate Word. The young football star will be dealing with this case now and could have just kissed his playing days over.
Obregon is accused of physically assaulting Weaver in front of the Grand Hyatt hotel. Police found Weaver bleeding from his head and was taken to the hospital where it was determined he had severe head trauma and would not likely survive.
He was placed on life support but did not survive the injuries.
It is sad, because Obregon approached Weaver and punched him in the face, causing Weaver to fall back and hit his head on the concrete walkway. This was according to the cameras, but then Obregon then punches Weaver a second time, while he was on the ground.
The star football player will now face manslaughter charges for the two punches.
Weaver’s death is being ruled a homicide and the cause of death was blunt force trauma to the head.
