What made you decide you wanted to be a football player?

I am extremely grateful to have two people, my high school football coach Andrew Mooney and my good friend Dominick Roberts, who pushed me to join the football team in high school. I was already a basketball and track guy, and I was looking to have another opportunity to compete but was hesitant about joining the team. Both of them would try to recruit me almost every single day in the hallway, and I ended up taking a chance. I am eternally grateful to both of them, as football has completely changed my life and brought me opportunities at a university that I never would have gone to without football.

What are your favorite moments from your football life?

My two favorite moments in my football career are my first collegiate touchdown during our homecoming game in 2021, and a 70-yard touchdown in the first round of the playoffs during my senior year in high school. I think both of these moments played a large part in developing my confidence as a receiver, and I truly consider them as turning points in my career.

Which one of your family members inspires you the most and why?

I think it is impossible to choose between my mom and my dad as being the most inspirational person in my life because they both have supported me throughout my entire life and have inspired me to be great every day. Being able to have two people in my life who overcome adversity every single day to provide for our family is the reason I can accomplish so much.

What are you looking forward to in your upcoming season?

We have come so close to reaching our goals and winning the conference the past 2 years, so putting in work this summer and watching film is making me look forward to the first time I can step back on the field with the team during fall camp and work towards a title.

If you could hang out with any football player past or present for a day who and why?

Hanging out with Joe Thomas for a day would be unforgettable. He is one of my favorite Browns and was such a huge part of my childhood and my love for football. Joe sticking with the same team through thick and thin has always been admirable to me, and seeing the entire city of Cleveland gravitate toward him is one of the coolest things ever.

What are your favorite things about playing football for Case Western Reserve?

Coach Debeljak has created such a great culture of excellence on and off the field, so being a part of a team that develops players into men and betters us off the field has given me many opportunities to become a better football player, while also becoming a better person and teammate. Life goes on beyond football, and I will always be grateful for the way CWRU has prepared me for that.

What should we know about Noah Coyne the person?

I love taking on new roles and trying new things. I believe challenging yourself reaps so many benefits, so stepping out of my comfort zone has become one of my favorite things to do. On a football field, this helps me to adapt to any new position or role and do what I need to do to help the team win.

What is your favorite offensive scheme and why?

I am obviously going to be a little biased as a receiver, but the spread offense has always been my personal favorite. There are so many opportunities to hit explosive plays up the seams and down the sidelines, and it also opens up running lanes when everything starts clicking. There is no better feeling than marching down the field in hurry-up while running the spread.

How do you handle challenges both in life and on the football field?

Having such a great support system gives me the opportunity to invite new challenges. When I face adversity, making sure I reach out to those around me to solve the issue has always been important to me. Especially on the field in a team game like football, any challenge requires input from all positions to get to the right solution.

What would a team get in a player like you?

A team would get a competitor that will find any way to work as hard as possible every day. Having only played 2 years of high school football and coming from a D3 program, I have learned that nothing is given and everything is earned. Competing everyday means so much to me because I know that getting an opportunity at the next level is the only way I can keep playing the game I love.

What stands out about your film the most?

My film shows that I can create explosive plays by going up and grabbing the ball and breaking tackles, even with 2 or 3 DBs on me. Averaging almost 23 yards a catch last season let’s people see that whenever the ball gets in my hands, I can make something happen.

Who is the most underrated player you’ve played with and why?

The most underrated player I’ve played with is one of our safeties, Nate Cikalo. He is easily a top 3 defensive back in our conference and is one of the best athletes on our team. He deserves so much more than an all-conference honorable mention, and I completely believe that if there were advanced and PFF stats in D3, he would be getting so much more appreciation.
