Slippery Rock University football player Jake Baker suddenly passed away

Jake Baker, a transfer defensive lineman from Clarion and Towson has passed away.
The Slippery Rock University standout died on Thursday suddenly.
Slippery Rock released this statement about the death:
“Jake was a terrific student and teammate and a cherished member of our Rock football family,” said the head coach. “We are heartbroken by his loss and we share our deepest condolences with his family and friends.”
Baker was from Maryland native, who started his career off at Clarion where he earned Dean’s List honors before announcing his transfer to Towson. Baker made his debut at The Rock last season.
He played in eight games as a defensive end for the program and helped the team win the 2023 PSAC West title and a trip to the NCAA Division II Quarterfinals.
