Clemson and Dabo Swinney did not take one player from the Transfer Portal, This is Smart!

Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney believes NCAA should have pre-season games
Clemson and Dabo Swinney did not take one player from the Transfer Portal, This is Smart!

I am sick of the transfer portal. There are so many people gassing the portal like it is a great place, to be honest there are over 2000 kids sitting in the portal and so many will end up pissing away a great opportunity.

I was shocked to learn that Clemson did not take a single transfer portal player, and I love that.

Outside of the military academies, Clemson was the only program in the country not to take a single transfer. While many have criticized coach Dabo Swinney’s approach to the portal, the Tigers’ head man defended his program’s lack of activity in the transfer market during an interview Tuesday on the ACC Network.

Swinney is smart, if he can prove to high school players that you need to come to Clemson and we will not bring in transfers to steal your job. We will let you grow and develop here at Clemson. That could be a different approach because it gives players a chance to grow as a prospect.

The transfer portal has become a major asset for coaches to improve their team, especially since the advent of the current name, image and likeness (NIL) rules, but Clemson has taken a more traditional approach, and I like it. Do you agree with it?
