Man sentenced to 25 years for the murder of NFL football star Will Smith

Cardell Hayes the man responsible for the death of former New Orleans Saints All-Pro pass rusher Will Smith will finally go to prison.
Will Smith accidentally rear-ended Cardell Hayes back in 2016, which led to an argument. That argument happened in New Orleans, on the night of April 9th.
Hayes claimed that Smith told him he was going back to his car to get his gun, so his attorneys argued that is why he fired eight times in self-defense. Smith and his wife were both shot.
Smith’s wife was shot in the leg and was badly injured by multiple bullets.
Smith, who would be 42 today, died slumped over the driver’s seat of his SUV. According to the reports, Hayes was sentenced to 25 years for manslaughter. Hayes had faced a maximum sentence of 40 years in prison.
Hayes spent time in prison before for this case but it was overturned. He will get time served for that prison sentence.
