Ex-Steelers running back is disappointed that Kenny Pickett didn’t want to compete with Russell Wilson
Pittsburgh Steelers traded Kenny Pickett after he told the staff he did not want to compete with Russell Wilson.
That did not sit right with many, and former Pittsburgh Steelers running back Merril Hoge opened up about it today, saying he was fooled by Pickett’s persona. He thought Pickett was a competitor, but that doesn’t appear to be the case after he backed down from a training camp battle with Russell Wilson.
“When you look at the quarterback situation, I really like Kenny Pickett. I was disappointed he didn’t want to compete. That one surprised me,” Hoge said during an appearance on Mic Drop Sports podcast this past week.
Pickett complained about the move and requested a trade. The Steelers agreed and shipped the disgruntled Pickett to the cross-state Philadelphia Eagles. Now he is in a worse situation. Man, sometimes you just need to shut up and compete.
