Former NFL football player arrested for scamming Medicare for more than 70 million dollars

After a solid college career, Rufus French was an undrafted free-agent tight end from Ole Miss signed by the Seattle Seahawks and spent several years in the NFL
French finished his college career with 84 receptions, 814 receiving yards, and four receiving touchdowns. He chose to forgo his senior year to enter the NFL Draft but eventually went undrafted.
He was an extremely talented prospect, who was also drafted by the San Diego Padres in the 30th round of the 1996 MLB June Amateur Draft.
French is in the news today after a federal grand jury indicted the former NFL player for scamming Medicare out of millions of dollars.
The indictment says French was part of a more than $70 million fraud scheme where companies billed the government for braces that were not medically necessary.
He faces prison time if convicted.
