When you look at the NFL draft as a whole, It’s arguably the biggest time of the off season for the sport of the NFL. It’s so important that teams will hire hundreds of scouts to work crazy hours to interview, workout, watch film on thousands of college athletes. And the term big man on campus couldn’t be bigger and truer when it comes to Eagles general manager Howie Roseman.

He makes trades to move up or down in the draft like very few have seen before. He snags gems in the middle to late rounds at a very high rate.

This year however, The Eagles might’ve just drafted 2 of the top 3 defensive backs in the whole draft. It was a little surprising considering the last few drafts they have keyed their eyes on the SEC programs.

A defensive backfield that already boast a pair of good corners in Darius Slay and James Bradberry, just got better.

However, Howie is looking towards the future, knowing he can’t keep them too much longer playing at the level needed to contend for a Super Bowl. You draft a year to two years ahead of time for developing and so the players are fully ready for the time.

They were able to draft Quinyon Mitchell (22) and Cooper DeJean (40) who were both predicted to be top 15 picks. They were able to draft a do it all running back in Will Shipley, who is solid at all levels of his game. He’s a more than capable runner, blocker, receiver, and he can also return kicks.

Jeremiah Trotter Jr. could be the steal in the middle or later rounds. Trotter who in today’s game is a very good in coverage as a linebacker.

They were also able to pull Johnny Wilson at wide receiver in the sixth round. Who standing at 6’7 and over 230 pounds could be a massive mismatch in the redzone.

The final piece was the trade out of the seventh round to gain more picks in the following 2025 NFL Draft.

This draft clearly deserves a A+!
