Former Washington football player files lawsuit against school for medical negligence

A former Husky football player has filed a civil lawsuit against the University of Washington seeking damages for alleged medical negligence.
Emeka Megwa, the former Husky running back from 2021-22, is seeking damages from the university and nine current or former members of UW’s sports medicine staff, football coaching staff, athletic trainers and physical therapists.
The complaint alleges medical negligence relating to Megwa’s ACL injury rehabilitation resulted in another ACL injury.
Megwa says the school pressured him to practice, was castigated by coaches for being physically unable to participate in workouts and was eventually dismissed from the program after undergoing his second reconstructive knee surgery.
The complaint states doctors and physicians weren’t consulted about Megwa’s injury despite the running back reporting pain months before his second ACL tear was discovered.
If this is true this is pretty bad. The school will need to answer the questions regarding the lawsuit. Megwa is looking to ensure no other players suffer any major injuries like this, and that is the purpose of the lawsuit. There is no monetary amount listed in the civil case.
