Los Angeles Chargers will select the Best Player Available regardless of need at #5

The Los Angeles Chargers are not going to just take a guy based on their needs. According to new General Manager Joe Hortiz, the Chargers will be taking the best player available.
Here is what Hortiz said:
“It really is the best player available,” Hortiz said, per PFT Live. “You take the best player available because you’re never ever one player away. That’s what Ozzie [Newsome] told me a long time ago. The games don’t start being played till September. So if you get a chance to take a special player at five, you take that player, and then you work from there.”
“You really don’t want to pigeonhole yourselves because we’re weak at this one position, so I gotta address this. I don’t think that’s the smart way to do it. You gotta have depth all around. I think the best teams can overcome injuries,” Hortiz added.
I love this concept. So many times teams try to force a team need instead of taking the best player. If a player like Marvin Harrison Jr. is there you run up to the podium. He shouldn’t be there, but my point is when you find a generational talent, you select him.
If you have the ability to choose between Joe Alt and Marvin Harrison, do you really select Alt? I do not care if you need three tackles, you still take Alt.
This is just my approach, and I agree with this.
