What made you decide you wanted to be a football player?
Growing up I was always around football because of my two older brothers and that’s where my love for the game formed. I would run around in a fake helmet with my little football eager for me to be able to play.
What are your favorite moments from your football life?
Some of my favorite moments honestly came from this season from meeting my teammates and forming new brotherhoods. Also just because all of the adversity I went through these past years it just made it feel that much better when my hard work from my entire career started to pay off!
What are you looking to achieve as a football player going forward?
What I’m looking for in football going forward is to play in the NFL for as long as God allows. Since a kid that’s always been my #1 goal and I know if I get the opportunity to do so, I’m going to put the world on notice.
Which one of your family members inspires you the most and why?
My mom probably inspires me the most because no matter the circumstances she always has a get up and go to work mentality, sometime working 2-3 jobs and never complaining. That inspires me to go hard everyday. Also my nephews they are looking up to and following me around everyday I’m home and I want to be able to give them all the opportunities I had and even the ones I didn’t.
If you could hang out with any football player past or present for a day who and why?
If it was one player I had to choose it would be Reggie Bush. I say that because he was the first person I grew up watching that I tried to mimic everything he did from swag to his running style. Also I would ask what was the biggest difference from college to the NFL and what do you feel you could’ve done more to make your already good NFL career even better!
What is your favorite offensive scheme and why?
My favorite offensive scheme is the wide zone. I say this because I feel it creates the lanes in the running game for you to stretch and puncture the defense.
What should we know about Jyran Mitchell the person?
I’m just a young man that has been a face in the Chicagoland area from mentoring kids to helping out the youth football teams, I strive to show the kids behind me that their dreams can come true if you work hard. To know me and my story is to know my college career has been nothing short of a grind but I kept pushing finally putting me in a true position to live my dream!
What stands out about your film the most?
What stands out about my film the most is my speed and versatility. I can catch the ball out the backfield consistently and I can score from anywhere on the field from the 1st and goal to first and 10 from the opposite one my speed and strength make me an every-down speed back that’s willing to put his nose in there and fight for extra yards. Also I don’t shy away from 3rd and long blocking situations.
How do you handle challenges both in life and on the football field?
Growing up I played quarterback so I got use to the challenges and pressure football can bring so there’s not many situations on the field that I haven’t been in and excelled at. But off the field I attack them head on. At a young age my dad taught me to never run from anything and face them straight on. And that’s exactly what I do take a deep breath roll my sleeves up and work!
What would a team get in a player like you?
A team would get a player that’s ready to work and do whatever it takes to boost the team up and a positive attitude player. Through my college career I played every role from sit back and cheering on my teammates to be the featured guy and I always approached every day with a positive attitude and always ready to work. Also a player that can make them better through his play as well!
What do you love the most about the game of football?
I love the bond you build with your teammates I have teammates that have genuinely became brothers for life. Also I love the thrill that I get leading up to the game and the excitement of scoring a touchdown is unmatched!
Who is the most underrated player you’ve played with and why?
The most underrated rated player I played with is Leon Payne from NIU. I say this because he was one of the twitchiest, good route runners that just studies the game of football like no one else I’ve ever been around. He just never got a shot to play once the coaching staff changed at NIU.
