Player Summary:

Senior.  Transferred from Middle Tennessee St.  WR starter.  Used in motion a lot.  Dynamic slot receiver with good speed and hands and legitimate skills after the catch which is where his strengths lie.  Comes off the snap with burst and explosiveness, wastes no time or movement getting vertical.  Needs to work on getting separation on more vertical routes but is an above average route runner who can work on his own over the MOF and get open around the goal line/in a short area.  Despite his short stature he can go up, high-point the ball and win contested catches. Displays good adjustment to the ball.  One of his biggest strengths is after the catch: displays good change-of-direction and upfield vision.  Can make defenders miss and shows elusiveness to break tackles and stay on his feet.  Good finisher.  Has plenty of juice but lacks height and doesn’t have a wide catch radius.  Often requires the ball to be thrown right at him and struggles to make acrobatic catches.  Is a marginal blocker who gets in the way but struggles to latch and drive defenders to the sideline and gives up inside leverage too much instead of encircling / sealing off the corner.

Scheme Fit:

Inside WR.

Power Statement:

Jaylin has a chance to make money as a slot receiver where his skills as a route runner and receiver will be put to good use. His lack of size prevents him from playing outside but his juice, burst, and initial quickness all make him an ideal fit as an inside wide receiver.  He has strong ability after the catch, which will also increase his value.
