Player Summary:
Mostaert is a redshirt senior who has played for NDST for five seasons. Plays the defensive tackle position in NDST’s 4-3 defensive scheme where he plays the 3 technique with the versatility to play the 2 and 1 technique. Has good height, good weight and good speed to play the position. Shows good instincts, good awareness, and good FBI to play the position. Plays with good flexibility to bend and burst out of his stance. Has above-average initial quickness to read and react at the LOS. Above-average acceleration to the ball with good quick and precise movement off the ball. Above-average pursuit with good movement to ball from snap to whistle. Solid strength at the POA to control drive blocks. Solid tackle ability to stop the ball carrier at the LOS. Average ability to push the pocket as a power rusher vs. pass blocks. Adequate recognition to diagnose plays after controlling blocks. Adequate ability to shed and release from defenders to make the play. Adequate ability as a pass rusher with adequate ability to get up field and adequate UOH to make quick contact with defenders, adequate shed and accelerate to the quarterback. Overall, Mostaert will need to develop his skills having played at the FCS level to be a three down player at the professional level.
