What made you decide you wanted to be a football player?
I’ve been playing for as long as I can remember and started playing in first grade and was watching the Colts growing up in Indianapolis and I played a lot of sports as a kid but football stuck with me the most.
What are your favorite moments from your football life?
My senior year of high school winning the sectional championship for the first time in awhile for my school and two years ago at Wabash we had our rivalry game and we were down 21 points and won and the past season I threw my brother his first touchdown.
Which one of your family members inspires you the most and why?
Growing up it was my grandad, he played baseball at Duke and was one of the only ones to to play a sport collegiately in my family. And my dad because he coached me growing up and helped give me confidence.
What are you looking forward to in your upcoming season?
Definitely with it being my last year and having 10 guys returning and I’m looking forward to preparing myself for this season and looking forward to the future hopefully playing football beyond this year as a professional.
If you could hang out with any football player past or present for a day who and why?
Peyton Manning, and I’ve gotten a chance to go to his camps and have been inspired to play quarterback by him obviously growing up in Indianapolis he was someone I loved watching.
What are your favorite things about playing football for Wabash College?
The guys on the team are my favorite part players and coaches and you want to come in and work for them and we also have fun together and push each other.
What should we know about Liam Thompson the person?
Extremely competitive person, everything I do I compete at and want to get better at and it even carries into school and with my brothers and I also want to make everyone better around me.
What is your favorite offensive scheme and why?
I’ve played in a lot of different systems including triple option, spread and pro style and I would say I like spread the most but I can see the value in a lot of different schemes and I am open to anything.
How do you handle challenges both in life and on the football field?
Preparation and a mentality that that things aren’t ever going to be perfect and it’s not a if things go wrong it’s a when and also talking to people and seeing what they think including teammates when you are on the field.
What would a team get in a player like you?
Going to get someone extremely competitive and a team first guy and someone who will expect excellence from everyone and someone willing to learn and work hard and someone who thinks he is capable of doing anything and someone who is going to prepare hard to eliminate as much doubt on game day as possible and gets the ball to his receivers.
What stands out about your film the most?
My playmaking ability and ability to keep the play alive and my accuracy has improved and I know how to run when needed but don’t want to run all the time.
Who is the most underrated player you’ve played with and why?
The offensive linemen I’ve played with from high school and college that really helped me get into college and have made me comfortable as a quarterback and helped give me success.
