Player Summary:
6’5”, 240-pound Defensive End in his sixth season at Grambling State. Unranked prospect out of North Clayton HS (GA); Began his college career at 220 pounds. Weighed as much as 260 pounds as a redshirt sophomore. Has steadily improved from one season to the next. Only played in ten games in his first three seasons at Grambling before earning First Team All-SWAC honors as a redshirt junior in 2021. Possesses a slender, athletic build, intriguing arm length, and average size. Lines up mostly as a 7-tech DE; He will also slide inside as a 3-tech DT in BEAR fronts. Powerful striker with strong, swift hands. Proficient initial quickness, reactionary athleticism, and burst-to-QB. Boasts a well-developed set of pass-rushing moves. Relies heavily on his double swipe and club-rip moves when rushing the passer. Has a decent swim move and spin move in his arsenal, but is not as clean with his technique. More of a speed rusher than a power rusher. Ample bend & lower-body flexibility off the edge but displays insufficient play strength and contact balance at the POA. Struggles to get off blocks when attempting to bull rush. Compensates for inadequate play strength with a high motor and constant effort. Willing to pursue the ball from sideline to sideline or retrace his steps to chase down a play downfield. Solid tackler in the backfield and open space; Strong tackling production in his two seasons as a starting DE. Flashed sneaky good coverage skills in limited passing situations. Barely scratching the surface of his athletic and football potential. Will need to add mass and sharpen his technique before reaching the next level, but he should be a top defensive prospect in the SWAC in 2023.
Scheme Fit:
Projects best as a 7-Tech/Wide-9 Defensive End in a 4-3 or 5-front scheme.
Power Statement:
Anderson is an All-SWAC standout with notable athletic ability, length, hand use, mot, and pass-rushing upside.
