Player Summary:

Jeshaun Jones is a 5th year senior wide receiver for Maryland, he’s a very intelligent person as he has made Academic All-Big Ten 3 out of the 4 years he has been at Maryland. Shows good release vs press & off man, solid vs bail. Sets up routes well with good stem off LOS to create good leverage. Overall, good manipulation ability as route runner, drops bad level well and uses head fakes to sell double moves. Possesses overall good hands as pass catcher, good with catching with hands instead of body. Shows good CIT ability over middle of field within frame, shows good ability to secure catch through contact. Good tracking ability downfield, able to find the ball in the air well and adjust to where it’s thrown. Displays good long speed when getting vertical downfield to stretch the field well on go/fly routes. Underrated run blocker, good ability to sustain and leverage blocks and shows great willingness to get physical as a blocker. Possesses adequate ability to play above rim and go up and get 50/50 balls. Has adequate body control downfield and around the boundary to adjust and make tough catches in traffic. Adequate RAC ability, overall adequate lateral ability to make defenders miss in space and possesses poor physical strength to run through tackles. Possesses adequate acceleration/burst in open field to outrun DB’s with good speed, not much of a home run hitter after catch.

Scheme Fit:

Slot in a west coast/spread scheme.

Power Statement:

Jeshaun Jones possesses good hands and route running ability and translates best as a slot at next level, even though he possesses good size at 6010, he doesn’t excel at playing up to/bigger than his frame on outside. Jones does release well off LOS inside & out and tracks the ball well but struggles with body control and securing catches outside his frame downfield and around the boundary. Jones will serve as a good practice squad/training camp body for a team, but I don’t believe he’ll produce much at all for an offense if he’s able to crack a 53.
