Ten Best HBCU football players in the Pro Football Hall of Fame | HBCU players make up close to 10% of the Hall of Fame

There have been a significant number of players from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) who have been inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. HBCU players represent only a small portion of the total football population, yet nearly 10% of all players in the Pro Football Hall of Fame attended HBCUs (34 out of 354 members).
My Top-Ten best HBCU football players in the Pro Football Hall of Fame are below
- Walter Payton (Jackson State University)
- Jerry Rice (Mississippi Valley State University)
- Deacon Jones (Mississippi Vocational College, now Mississippi Valley State University)
- Willie Brown (Grambling State University)
- Art Shell (University of Maryland Eastern Shore)
- Buck Buchanan (Grambling State University)
- Mel Blount (Southern University)
- Willie Lanier (Morgan State University)
- Lem Barney (Jackson State University)
- Jackie Slater (Jackson State University)
These are just a few examples, and there are many more HBCU players who have made significant contributions to the NFL and have been recognized with induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
