What made you decide you wanted to be a football player?

I grew up playing backyard football with my older cousins, being one of the youngest it was challenging at times and I feel like that pushed me to want to be a better player and convince my mom to let me join a team when I was 7 years old.

What are your favorite moments from your football life?

Some of my favorite memories from my football life has to be playing high school ball with guys I grew up specifically my junior year when we were able to clinch and win a home playoff game for the first time in 8 years. For my college career it would have to be in that ‘21 season when we made it to the playoffs after not playing during the COVID year, at the start of last season when I had two interceptions in our season opener vs SMSU.

Which one of your family members inspires you the most and why?

My momma is the family member that inspires me the most, the reason behind it is I’ve witnessed how hard she works almost everyday to take make sure me and my little sister got everything we need . No matter what life throws her way she finds a way to keep making things happen and that inspires me to be the best version of myself in everything I do.

What are you looking forward to in your upcoming season?

This upcoming season I’m looking forward to showing my versatility playing multiple positions in the secondary and showcasing my talents against “higher” level competition to show scouts that I’m bonafide baller regardless of who I’m playing against. Also helping being a part of getting Duquesne back to that championship level of football that they once had.

If you could hang out with any football player past or present for a day who and why?

It would definitely be Tyrann Mathieu, as I would be able to soak up so much knowledge from him (football and non football related). Also considering I’ve been watching his highlights and modeling my game after him since his LSU days it would definitely be a great experience to kick it with him for a day.

What do you love the most about the game of football?

The two main things I love about the game of football is that it’s the ultimate team sport that brings guys from several different backgrounds close together. Also how when you get on that field, you can forget about everything else you got going on in the outside world.

What should we know about Dayvia Gbor the person?

For starters, I’m incredibly passionate about football. It’s more than just a game to me and just like with everything else I do I strive to be the best version of myself. I’ve put in countless hours working on my technique and studying the game. I’m a team player through and through, I understand that success comes when everyone works together seamlessly.
I’ve faced my share of challenges, both in the sport and in life, and those experiences shaped me to have the resilience, which allows me to keep my composure in high pressure situations. Off the field, I’m committed to giving back to the youth because I believe in passing it forward. I feel like all the knowledge I’ve gained on and off the field would all be for nothing if I wasn’t sharing it with others to help them be the best versions of themselves. Whether it’s volunteering or inspiring young athletes, I believe in using my platform to make a positive impact.
All in all I have a relentless drive to succeed, a strong work ethic, and a determination to continuously grow as a player and as a person.

What is your favorite defensive scheme and why?

My favorite defense scheme would have to be quarters the reason being is there a lot you can do defensively in quarters and a good amount of those situations turns into man coverage for the corner which Is definitely one of my strengths.

How do you handle challenges both in life and on the football field?

I do my best to embrace all the challenges life throws my way, I feel that everything happens for a reason and the most high wouldn’t put me in a situation I couldn’t handle. That’s why I just try to find the positive or lessons from challenges I’ve faced.

What would a team get in a player like you?

In a player like me a team will be getting will be getting a player that’s technically sound and a true student of the game. I’m adaptable and willing to learn new positions or techniques to contribute to the team’s success. Off the field, I’m a positive influence, fostering a strong sense of camaraderie among teammates. I’m not only focused on my personal growth/goals but also on helping elevate the entire team. With my work ethic, resilience, and passion for the game, I will be a valuable asset both as a player and as a teammate.

What stands out about your film the most?

What stands out the most about my film is my footwork, fluent hips and my ability to make plays on the ball when it’s thrown my way.

Who is the most underrated player you’ve played with and why?

The most underrated player I played with would be Cazz Martin, the reason being he could take one to the house on any carry. Also I witnessed some of the work he put in to perform at the high level he did.
