Talk about your experience as a student. What is your major/minor? Did you participate in any other activities or campus organizations other than football?

I graduated from Presbyterian College in three years with a degree in Data Analytics. I am currently getting my masters from Furman University in Strategic Business Design. Presbyterian College did not offer athletic scholarships, so essentially I was a walk-on that had to pay for school. In response to that, I joined the Army ROTC program to pay for school. In May of 2022, I graduated from PC and was commissioned into the US Army as a 2nd Lieutenant. I am currently in the reserves as I finish my football and college career.

What do your teammates say is your best quality?

My teammates would probably say my best quality is my toughness.

What kind of role do you see yourself in on the team? What scheme and/or position suits your skill set?

My role as the quarterback is to be the respected leader that leads by example on the field. An RPO, play-action, and qb run scheme best fits my skills.

Who is the best player you have ever played against in college?

The best player I have ever played against in college was Bryan Bresee from Clemson.

Which one of your teammates impresses you the most?

My two linemen Jake Johanning and Pearson Toomey impress me the most on my team.

What makes you different from others in your position?

My ability to rally a team to believe and trust in me with my tough play on the field is what makes me different from other quarterbacks.

Describe a time in your life when you were able to overcome a struggle.

My second year at PC I had to go to Fort Knox in Kentucky for four months for Army officer training. During that time I did not have my phone for weeks at a time until we got out of the field to go to the barracks for a few day reset. In the middle of this training, I learned that my grandfather was a victim of an armed home invasion at his home in Hawaii where he was robbed at gunpoint, beaten, and left severely injured in his home for two days before his neighbors came to check on him. Was a tough time because he got a flight back to my mother’s home in Florida to recover. However, I could not leave in the middle of this training which was tough to not be able to support my family.

If you didn’t play football, what other sport would you play?

If I didn’t play football, I would probably have played baseball.

What is something that you are most proud of? What would you say is your biggest achievement?

Something I am most proud of is being able to find a way to serve my country in the Army as an officer all while living my dream of playing college football and earning my master’s degree.

Describe one of the most memorable plays of your collegiate career.

One of my most memorable plays would be playing against a #9 ranked Chattanooga, who was 1st in the conference at the time. We are up 24-20 in the 4th quarter with 1:35 left and it is 3rd & 10. Chattanooga had no more timeouts so a first down would close the game out and give us the win to put us first in the conference at the time. Coach calls a rollout left play with a corner by the X and a flat by the Y coming in motion. As the play unravels, they all jump on the Y, who was Ryan Miller our best player who now plays for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, to where I then throw it over them to the X, Kyndel Dean, who runs a great route and tie taps on the sideline for a 18 yard gain to win the game.

Do you have a favorite athlete or professional team? Is there a player that you model your game after?

My favorite athlete is Baker Mayfield. I love how he plays and I love his story because I was also essentially a walk-on for 3 years. I try to play with the same swagger and toughness he plays with.

What do you do in your spare time? Do you have any hobbies? Any secret talents?

In my spare time, I take my 10-month-old Labrador retriever puppy, Samson, on walks or to the field for fetch with my wife, Kathryn.

Why do you play football? Who or what motivates you the most?

I play football because it is my stress reliever, my peace, and I love the brotherhood that comes with being on a team. My motivation comes from striving to make my parents proud. They say it brings them so much joy watching me play football.

What do you want NFL teams to know about you?

I want NFL teams to overlook my size and just analyze my playing ability. I understand I am undersized compared to most quarterbacks but I take pride in showing that size doesn’t matter and I prove that every Saturday on the field.
