What made you decide you wanted to be a football player?
I grew up watching my brothers play football and my dad was my little league coach and I just fell in love with the game and he motivated me to keep playing football as I got older.
What are your favorite moments from your football life?
My favorite moment during an actual game was scoring my first college touchdown. Outside of the game, my favorite moments were watching all the hard work and sacrifices pay off, making my family proud, and creating a brotherhood with my teammates.
Which one of your family members inspires you the most and why?
My father and my daughter inspire me and keep me with a chip on my shoulder. My dad passing in high school made me just have a different drive for the game and put me in a different mode every time I touch the field. My baby girl is my everything and I want to show her that I graduated college and that you can do whatever you put your mind to. And my mother too because she sacrificed so much for me.
What are you looking forward to in your upcoming season?
I’m looking forward to winning our conference championship and upsetting a lot of teams because everyone thinks we’re the underdog. Also I’m looking forward to having a great season to help the team and accomplish our goals.
If you could hang out with any football player past or present for a day who and why?
Justin Jefferson, because I love how he plays the game, and would love to learn and take tips from him to better my game.
What are your favorite things about playing football for Long Island?
The coaches I’m under and my teammates.
What should we know about Davon Wells the person?
I’m an energetic, respectful and loving person. I get along with everyone and try my best to make anyone’s day. I’m hard working, and love making new friends and creating bonds with new people.
What is your favorite offensive scheme and why?
I like spread, but you can’t win without running the ball so a little bit of everything.
How do you handle challenges both in life and on the football field?
Walking by faith and staying focused. I keep my head up when things don’t go my way. I always take notes and practice.
What would a team get in a player like you?
Trustworthy, playmaker ,experienced football player, great teammate and consistency.
What stands out about your film the most?
Ability to create space, making plays, deep ball threat, my speed and versatility.
Who is the most underrated player you’ve played with and why?
Jaiden Roe, his worth ethic and knowledge of the game is amazing, he knows what every position has on the defense and could play anything.
