Player Summary:

RS Senior from Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Long, slender arms and legs, but has a stout midsection. Room to add muscle on frame, particularly on his extremities. Wore a brace on his right shoulder to open the 2023 season. Primarily used as a stand-up edge on the field side at UO, but occasionally shifts inside on obvious passing downs. Good first step out of a 3-point stance but sometimes takes a false step coming out of a two-point stance. Quicker than fast, showing above-average quickness and agility off the snap. Does not showcase the initial punch, would rather swat hands and evade a blocker than go through them. Does not have a diverse skill set of pass rush moves, almost exclusively using a swim move to evade blockers and failing to have a secondary move if the swim fails. Lacks top end strength but uses leverage well to compensate for it. Average flexibility and bend to get around the edge. Does a good job of getting his hands in passing lanes when unable to get to the passer. Patient in letting the play develop, taking good angles. Flows well down the LOS in pursuit of the ball carrier, sometimes losing the ball on play-action and fakes. Absorbs contact from blockers rather than attacking and playing with violence. Questionable effort at times. Does not play with physicality, but his combination of quickness and length makes him an interesting developmental player as a pro.

Scheme Fit:

Projects as a rotational EDGE player with some potential to move inside if he adds substantial weight through an NFL Strength and Conditioning program. I expect him to be a rotational player that could eventually become starter as his body and technique develops

Power Statement:

A very raw rotational DL player, Dorlus still has room to grow physically and develop technically. Despite that, he has good physical traits that translate to the NFL, currently projected to be a mid to late round pick in the 2024 draft.
