2024 NFL Draft Prospect Interview: Peyton Plunkett, LB, Quincy University

What made you decide you wanted to be a football player?

I was a 3 sport athlete in high school baseball, basketball and football but I stuck with football the most because I love the team aspect and it’s something I enjoy playing.

What are your favorite moments from your football life?

High school Friday night lights and transitioning to Saturday in college and it’s just as fun on Saturday and the relationship building aspect is big for me.

Which one of your family members inspires you the most and why?

My grandpa, he was my biggest fan and he wanted me to work hard at stuff and he was pretty special to me.

What are you looking forward to in your upcoming season?

We have a lot of guys coming back this summer and continuing to build into the rest of the season and playing well in the scheme and win some games and hopefully a conference championship.

If you could hang out with any football player past or present for a day who and why?

Ray Lewis, just because how much of a dominant player he was and how much of a leader he is and how he talks to people and hopefully would help me become a better leader.

What are your favorite things about playing football for Quincy?

The relationships that I’ve built with the guys off the field we hang out with each other and then on the field we hold each other accountable and want to be on the same page.

What should we know about Peyton Plunkett the person?

I’m a big family man, home for me is 20 minutes away from Quincy and on the field I want to play the best I possibly can and I am leader and lead by example.

What is your favorite defensive scheme and why?

4-3, it’s not like a reg 4-3, we have 4 linemen and have a middle linebacker and 2 outside backers and we gear up to stop the run.

How do you handle challenges both in life and on the football field?

The glass is always half full in life or on the football field and understand if you stay in a negative mindset you will always be down. So you have to look at things with a positive mindset to get out of a slump.

What would a team get in a player like you?

You will get 110% effort, making sure I always get to the ball. Also getting a leadership role with me and bring intensity and energy and bring guys along with my intensity and energy.

What stands out about your film the most?

Big time plays in big time situations a lot of my plays are in third down situations and the way I stick to people and move sideline to sideline.

Who is the most underrated player you’ve played with and why?

Joseph Webb, he’s our safety and how smart and intelligent he is and he was a captain as a sophomore last year and the way he talks to people from different backgrounds and he’s underrated because of his size.
