Chargers allow RB Austin Ekeler to seek a trade | This could be a huge mistake
Today the Los Angeles Chargers granted their star running back Austin Ekeler permission to seek a trade. The 27-year-old star running back signed a four-year contract worth 24.5 million back in 2020 and is entering in the final year of his contract and is set to play at 6.25 million in 2023.
Ekeler is one of the most productive running backs in the NFL and is making a lot less than other running backs in the league that are less productive.
Since entering the NFL as an undrafted free-agent signee in 2017, Ekeler has become one of most dynamic players, scoring 38 touchdowns.
Ekeler is a huge weapon for the Chargers in the passing game as well. That is why he is so special. Ekeler has hauled in 389 passes for 3,448 yards and 29 touchdowns in just six seasons. He caught 107 passes in 2022. He deserves a lot more money than 6.25 million.
If the Chargers do in fact trade him they are going to hurt the progress of Justin Herbert.
