NFL Trade Rumors: Colts are linked to the First Pick in the 2023 NFL Draft

Who will be the first pick in the 2023 NFL Draft? That is the question that everyone is asking. There have been rumors that Justin Fields could be traded, that the Bears could end up getting a kings ransom for the first overall pick, and that Bryce Young should be the first pick because he compares the most to Patrick Mahomes.

Well, according to Matt Miller of ESPN, the Bears will not get too much for the first overall pick, and the Colts have the best opportunity to get up to 1.

“The overwhelming feedback was that the Bears won’t get a king’s ransom for the No. 1 pick but that Indianapolis had the best situation in terms of draft capital and trading the pick out of the NFC,” ESPN’s Matt Miller reported after discussing the situation with front-office personnel.

Miller’s projected trade would have the Indianapolis Colts swapping the No. 4 overall pick along with second- and fourth-round picks and a 2024 third-round pick for the Bears’ No. 1 overall pick.

The top selection has been dealt 12 times since 1967, most recently in 2016, when the Rams jumped up to pick quarterback Jared Goff.

If a team trades up to number 1 they are going to be looking for a quarterback. I would be shocked if anyone moves up to one to not select a quarterback with as many as seven of the top 10 picks needing a quarterback.

I am not sure who the Colts would take, but they really need a good quarterback if they want to win. They hired the Eagles OC Shane Steichen as their new head coach, and he is a very good offensive mind. Would he prefer Will Levis, Anthony Richardson, Bryce Young or CJ Stroud? I guess we will find out soon.
