Is Sean Payton’s timeline for a return to the NFL closing?
Sean Payton coaching next year could be much clearer in the coming days. The former Saints head coach said in a broadcast a couple weeks ago he was about 7 out of 10 percent chance he would return to Fox, but he seemed more optimistic this week when talking on air about his timeline.
Many think Payton will be the top candidate for the Broncos and Cardinals, but jobs are starting to fill up around him. Payton told his friends at Fox that the door is not close yet.
“I think in the next week we’re going to know a lot more,” Payton said on the Fox pregame Sunday. When asked whether or not the door was closed on return, the former Saints coach responded, “No, no, no. I think there’s a handful of things still taking place for these coaches and myself.”
To me the Broncos make the most sense with Russell Wilson and new management, but the Cardinals do have Kyler Murray who is still coming off an injury. Will Sean Payton just wait a year? I mean if he does and the Cowboys suck next year his dream job could land in his lap…..
