What made you decide you wanted to be a football player?

I come from a football family and was around the game for as long as I can remember. My pops had a good enough career at Nebraska to have brief stint in the league. I’ve always looked up to him. Football was always such a big part of my life, even before I put pads on for the first time.

What are you looking to achieve as a football player going forward?

My next goal is to make that 53 man roster and get 4 credited years under my belt.

If you could hang out with any football player past or present for a day who and why?

Lawrence Taylor for sure. Some of the most dominant film I’ve ever seen and I’m sure he would have some crazy stories for me.

What are your favorite moments from your football life?

Making it out of JUCO to get to the next level.

Which one of your family members inspires you the most and why?

I’d say my younger sister. She’s an incredibly intelligent and funny person. She’s a hard worker and inspires me to push for more every day.

What is your favorite defensive scheme and why?

4 front. Setting edges and playing vertical is what I do best.

What should we know about Malcolm Lee the person?

I’m a grinder. I’m not for all the extracurriculars, I keep my head down and work until it’s time to show out.

What stands out about your film the most?

Effort and energy.

How do you handle challenges both in life and on the football field?

You just have to make the best out of any situation you are put in. Life’s going to throw a lot at you, all you can control is how you respond.

What would a team get in a player like you?

A high football IQ, and a technician with a motor.

What do you love the most about the game of football?

The physicality and the mental aspect of it. Everyone knows how violent this game is but I don’t think football players get enough credit for how difficult this game is mentally.

Who is the most underrated player you’ve played with and why?

Jereme Robinson and Hayden Hatcher. Both are some freak athletes and play makers. I’m really looking forward to watching them both get paid and make names for themselves this fall at KU.
