What made you decide you wanted to be a football player?
My mom got me into it and one day when I was about 4 or 5 I told my mom while watching the super bowl that one day I’d play in that game.
What are you looking to achieve as a football player going forward?
Prayerfully to be picked up by a team and just be the best player I can be.
If you could hang out with any football player past or present for a day who and why?
Probably Grady Jarrett, He’s also a shorter DT and I would just love to pick his brain and see how he’s been so successful being that he’s defied the odds.
Which one of your family members inspires you the most and why?
I would say my mom. To me, she’s Wonder Woman. Just her work ethic and how no matter the situation she can always get what she needs to do finished.
What are your favorite moments from your football life?
I would say winning the Southern Conference championship in 2021 and winning the cannon trophy this year against Central Michigan in the snow.
What is your favorite defensive scheme and why?
I like a 4-3 base defense because being a DT you get a taste of playing 3 tech and 2.
What should we know about Warren Dabney the person?
I would say what stands out is that you’ll see a big man that runs to the ball, eats up double teams, and makes the plays that I’m supposed to make.
How do you handle challenges both in life and on the football field?
By controlling what I can control. I can always control my response and effort in everything I do.
What would a team get in a player like you?
They would get a player that works for everything that comes their way and a high effort guy that eats up double teams.
What do you love the most about the game of football?
What I love about football the most is the peace that it brings me. There’s no better feeling than going out on that field, lacing your cleats up, putting on them pads, and just having fun.
Who is the most underrated player you’ve played with and why?
I would say Korey Bridy, he was my roommate at VMI so I got to see first hand the work he put in. He’s a tough running back who doesn’t want to come down.
