North Carolina football player arrested for domestic violence claims he was trying to prevent his wife from committing suicide
Just last week, Don Chapman was arrested and charged with domestic violence and battery of an unborn child.
More details are emerging and according to Chapman’s statement he did get an altercation with his wife who is pregnant but it was because she was trying to commit suicide.
Both Chapman and his wife, who were living apart at the time admit that a fight escalated when she threatened to commit suicide.
Chapman told police he took a gun away from her and admitted she told him to leave, but he refused because he was afraid she would kill herself.
His wife did tell police that Chapman took the gun from her, but she claimed he grabbed her by the neck and tried to punch her and then dragged her down the hall by her shirt.
Chapman was charged with trespassing, and assault on a female and battery of an unborn child, while his wife was charged with simple assault.
