Former Super Star wide receiver praises Zach Wilson saying he has some Patrick Mahomes characteristics
Zach Wilson has quite a bit of fans after reportedly cheating on his girlfriend with his Mom’s best friend, and he is now making former NFL players believers too.
Chad Johnson aka Ochocinco had some pretty big praise for the former BYU quarterback.
While Wilson has struggled a bit as a quarterback in the NFL, the Jets have added so many weapons around him, he is destined to have a big year.
Well, Ochoinco is predicting greatness for the second-year starting quarterback. A matter of fact, he compared him to Patrick Mahomes.
“Zach is extremely good,” Johnson said in an interview with Sports Illustrated last week. “He has the ‘it’ factor – very Patrick Mahomes-ish. I’m not saying he’s Patrick Mahomes, but you watch his mechanics, his throwing motion, the way he moves, he’s very Patrick Mahomes-ish. So I became a fan. … Zach Wilson is gonna flourish; he’s gonna flourish in New York. It’s all about (Jets head coach Robert) Saleh … getting the right pieces around him. He and Elijah Moore, this year, they gonna create magic.”
Ochocinco was with Carson Palmer when he made a huge jump his second year. So this is a big compliment for the Jets quarterback.
Wilson passed for 2,334 yards and nine touchdowns in 13 games as a rookie last season. He did throw 11 interceptions, but if Wilson can cut down the turnovers the Jets are going to have a great season. Chad Johnson loves the Jets got Wilson some weapons and he feels if you add enough weapons a quarterback can grow quicker.
“I say this all the time when it comes to young quarterbacks,” said Johnson, “the better the supporting cast, the easier their job becomes, where the onus isn’t just on him to get the job done.”
Do you agree? Look at Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes…..
