Jets rookie WR Garrett Wilson says there is definitely a difference between Joe Flacco and Zach Wilson
Garrett Wilson will have to work with Joe Flacco after Zach Wilson suffered a knee injury. Today, Zach Wilson is scheduled to have surgery on his knee and will keep him out for several weeks. Garrett Wilson the rookie was asked by reporters if there was a difference between Joe Flacco and Zach Wilson and Wilson said there was definitely a difference.
“There’s definitely a difference,” Wilson said Monday. “It’s a lot of experience right there with Flacco. I feel like everything with him, he takes some pace off, puts some pace on the ball. He does a good job of making the passes receiver-friendly. That’s the best way I can put it into words.”
“They’re pretty easy to catch,” Wilson added about Flacco’s passes. “Takes some off the ball when you’re running a slant route versus an out route, put some zip on it because it’s gotta be. Things like that.”
The young pass catcher is definitely liking what Flacco has to bring to the table. Robert Saleh has been pumping up Flacco all pre-season so this is good if you are a Jets fan. Flacco has started 176 games in his career and is a proven quarterback.
Flacco is a pretty accurate quarterback and has completed 64 percent of his passes since 2018. The Jets play the Falcons on Monday, so it will be nice to see Flacco get a little action.
As a small school scout, I agree with Garrett Wilson. Joe Flacco is probably the best small school quarterback in the past ten years. He is a really savvy quarterback with great touch.
