What made you decide you wanted to be a football player?

My friends actually had to convince me to play football going into 7th grade. Once I started playing I fell in love with it.

Which one of your family members inspires you the most and why?

My dad. He’s always been such a great role model for me and taught me how to live my life to the fullest and the right way. He’s overcame challenges in his life and it inspires me to overcome anything life throws at me.

What are your favorite moments from your football life?

Having my dad as my football coach from 7th to 9th grade. I loved being coached by him and having him teach me the game when I first started playing.

If you could hang out with any football player past or present for a day who and why?

George Kittle. He’s been my favorite NFL player for a while now and I love the way he plays the game. He’s tough and really excels in every aspect of playing tight end. He also just seems like a fun person to be around.

What type of energy do you bring onto the football field?

I think I bring a lot of energy to the field by making plays when they matter. I love competing in high pressure situations as I feel I play my best in those moments.

What are your favorite things about playing football for Mercyhurst?

My teammates. We’re close as a team and I consider everyone a brother of mine.

What should we know about Jason Armstrong the person?

I really enjoy helping others, especially the younger guys on our team become successful and better men by doing things the right way. I have had my fair share of slip-ups, but I learn from my mistakes and I want to help others in doing that too.

What is your favorite offensive scheme and why?

A traditional spread offense with a lot of inside/outside zone. There’s so many different RPO’s that can be utilized through zone and when ran effectively it can really put defenses in bad situations.

How do you handle challenges both in life and on the football field?

I believe that God will lead me down the right path and it’s all apart of my journey that God intends for me to follow. Knowing that God is always with me helps me push through and overcome any challenge I face.

What would a team get in a player like you?

I never give up and I’ll give you all that I have. My blocking as a tight end continues to improve every year I play and I have the ability to run a wide range of routes from both the tight end position and slot.

What are you looking forward to in your upcoming season?

Being a captain of my team and running our new offense. Our system fits our guys so well and I’m excited to see what we can do this year.

Who is the most underrated player you’ve played with and why?

Keith Brickman. He was all conference last season, but his impact on our team and in the conference in my opinion was incredible and he should’ve had more recognition in the region and country. I expect him to have a huge season this year.
