Former Notre Dame star football player suffered cardiac arrest while running and died
A former Notre Dame football star who played in the NFL for the Denver Broncos was out in his neighborhood running when he collapsed and his heart stop beating.
Paul Duncan was just 35 years old.
Paul Duncan’s wife, Ellen, confirmed in a July 16 statement on social media that her late husband’s heart suddenly stopped beating on July 15 “while on a run in our neighborhood.”
“Today he was pronounced brain dead,” Ellen said on Instagram. “We will have a medical examination to understand [the] cause of death.”
Duncan was an offensive lineman from 2005 to 2009 and was signed by the Denver Broncos. Duncan was a solid player who is survived by his wife and two little daughters.
The NFL has recently suffered a string of losses. Duncan is at least the fifth former NFL player who has recently passed away, others include Charles Johnson, Tony Siragusa, Marion Barber, and Jimmy Williams.
Please keep the family of Paul in your prayers during this tough time.
