Why doesn’t Canada have an NFL team?

Should the NFL take their talents to Canada? I think it is time.

As a huge Buffalo Bills fan a few years ago I thought for sure the NFL was going to try to send my team north of the border. Well, thankfully Terry Pegula came through to save the day, but here is my honest question, why hasn’t the NFL explored to make their game more global?

The Buffalo Bills played several games in Toronto when Russ Brandon was running the Bills, and at this point I would like to think Toronto has to have the best odds to become the next NFL franchise.

When you look at the country of Canada they have football in the CFL but the fans are amazing. I mean they sell out tickets to watch their teams, and the fans are crazy about the game. If you check out the major online betting operators listed on Bestbettingsites.com, I am willing to bet they have the odds for the NFL and the NFL’s future.

The NFL has had 32 teams now for quite some time, but 36 teams would make sense. I mean I could eventually see a 40 team league. The NFL is growing and there is more than enough talent to fill the rosters. New leagues are popping up every year. Next year, the Rock and company are going to be opening the XFL, they hired several former NFL General Managers to run their front office. The Rock had a short stint in the CFL, and has to realize this makes too much sense.

When you look at other start up leagues, the Spring League has been around, the USFL is coming back, and we still have the AFL, IFL and even the AAF had success.

With all these leagues you know what league never struggled? The CFL! They stay strong through all the changes. I want to see an NFL team in Canada. I think it would be fun. Right now the NFL plays a game in London and a game in Mexico. I want to see teams having to travel north of the border. I think it would be huge for the league and it would bring in a new viewership.

I would make an expansion team at this point and place them in Toronto. I think the NFL would benefit from this more than anyone. They would gain a new viewership, the fans of the CFL would fall in love with their team. The NBA has Canadian teams and it works out fine.

According to TSN, the league already has a strong, engaged fan base that buys tons of NFL merchandise, a population that provides economic support to teams in three of its markets (Buffalo, Detroit and Seattle) and a strong broadcast presence

Did you know that the capital of Ontario is the largest market in the US or Canada? The greater metropolitan area population is million. Toronto is just a few hours away on a flight from every team in the NFL. Imagine adding a potential 6 million fans? That is not including the rest of Canada, this is just Ontario.

I want to see the NFL expand, and I want Canada to be a part of it!
