5 NFL Players That Should Lose Their Starting Jobs in 2021
By: NFLHeads
Every year, there are inevitably multiple starters, be it at any position, that just do not come up to snuff for their teams. Today, we are going to pick on those players and tell you who will be warming up the bench next year.
Peterson is falling off big time in production, but is still getting major snaps. Peterson has allowed 8 touchdowns, and quarterbacks have a 121.5 passer rating when throwing his way. Peterson’s era of greatness is coming to a crashing end, and he needs to be benched and not re-signed to a massive deal this offseason.
Kirk Cousins, QB
Cousins is not necessarily on a level where he is the worst quarterback in the NFL, but it has to be so annoying for Vikings fans to watch this guy play and see him lose in every game that has any semblance of meaning whatsoever. Cousins has not managed to get his team a win where they led by more than 14 points, every game is desperately close, and if it’s a coin toss the game is likely to go to the other quarterback. The Vikings are way too set up to lose in the playoffs again. If they get an actual quarterback, I am ready to say that this team can make a Super Bowl run.
Todd Gurley, RB
I would be supremely upset if the Falcons made the decision to keep Gurley rather than letting him just float into the ether. Gurley has an abysmal 3.5 yards per carry, and let’s be honest he just cannot make anybody miss anymore. The Falcons should forget Gurley, and get Brian Hill some major carries in 2021.
Tre Boston, S
This is less because Boston has been bad, Jeremy Chinn who is currently playing second banana right now is playing much better than Boston, and should be starting over him. Boston would probably still be good elsewhere, I just think there are better options right now in Carolina.
Cam Newton, QB
I think this one is fairly obvious to everyone, especially considering Bellichick is putting Jarrett Stidham in for passes these days. I think one important skill that quarterbacks need to have is that they need to pass. I don’t think Cam Newton can do that, and let’s just say Bill Bellichick didn’t thrive with Tom Brady because of his mobility.
