Draft Diamonds Free Agent Interview: Ashad Guice, Linebacker
Hello, I am @jrberendzen on Twitter and this is one of my free agent interviews where I ask very deserving free agents questions about the players themselves and about what a team would get in these players. All of these players should get picked up by NFL, CFL, and XFL teams and get a shot at being a career football player. What is your favorite stadium that you have played in?
Lamar University Stadium
2.If your life was a tv show what would you call it and why?
Some type of Sci-Fi show I can’t think of any show that could represent my life showing my life challenges of fasting adversity moving from three different colleges to finally make a name for myself.
3.What is your mindset when you are on the football field?
Urgency and aggression every play, not taking any plays off, focusing on one goal getting to the ball doing my job.
4.Rank focus,footwork and skill based on what is most important to you as a football player and explain why?
Focus is my number one priority when playing the game as it puts me in a position to make plays all around the field if I’m focused in practice in the film room and in the game I will ultimately limit the mistakes that a lot of players make paying attention to detail is key to success. Footwork comes second as it’s very important perfecting your craft. It’s the little things that make you better from lateral movement to quickness. Skill comes last as I wasn’t always blessed with tremendous skill out the wound it took focus and a lot of other things that made me a better football player. I naturally had the skill but didn’t know how to use it.
5.What is your favorite workout?
Lower body workouts
6.What are your favorite moments from your football life?
Getting the game-ending sack in high school to move onto the playoffs.Getting the game-ending sack in junior college tough game.Getting offered out of junior college to continue playing football. Making all-region team in junior college finishing the season with 12 sacks rank 7 in the state of California.
7.What type of energy do you bring onto the football field?
Hype Turnt/ Fun energy
8.What made you decide you wanted to be a football player?
Growing up that’s all I ever wanted to do my father played football his whole life so it was like I was following his footsteps. Always enjoyed the excitement of the game and the physicality.
9.What has been your biggest challenge in life?
Facing adversity when I got hurt my senior year I could have taken a medical redshirt or came back last three games. Losing my junior college coach the only person who believed in my talents.

10.What would a team get in a player like you?
They will get a player with a high motor and passion.
11.What do you hope to achieve as a football player going forward?
Success on and off the field and long-lasting relations. Rather it is football success or success in giving back to my community.
12.If you could hang out with any football player past or present for a day who and why?
Sean Taylor was my favorite football player as a child and I loved the way he played the game. I remember everything he did in Miami and loved his ball skill playmaking ability.
