Draft Diamonds Free Agent Interview: Timmy Hernandez, Wide Receiver

Meet Free Agent WR Timmy Hernandez the former Oregon State playmaker. He recenty sat down with Justin Berendzen of Draft Diamonds.

Hello, I am @jrberendzen on Twitter and this is one of my free agent interviews where I ask very deserving free agents questions about the players themselves and about what a team would get in these players. All of these players should get picked up by NFL and CFL teams and get a shot at being a career football player. So I hope you all read this interview on Timmy and follow his journey on Twitter @TimboSlice003

1) What has been your favorite stadium that you have played in?

We played Minnesota my sophomore year and their stadium was awesome.

2)Rank focus, footwork and skill based on what is most important to you as a football player and explain why?

I would say focus first, and footwork and skill are similar. Once you get to a high level, pretty much everyone is talented skill-wise, but focus can be the difference between good and great.

3) What is your mindset when you are on the football field?

I always tried to prepare for the game well and do all my thinking during the week, so when it came to the game, I could just play,

4) If your life was a tv show what would you call it and why?

Timbo, because people like to call me that. I think it is a funny, happy name, and I try to do my best to make life fun and happy.

5)What is your favorite workout?

I love routes on air. It brings you back to just running around with your friends when you were little playing catch.

6)What are your favorite moments from your football life?

In my senior year of high school, we went to Las Vegas and beat Bishop Gorman as huge underdogs.

7)What has been your biggest challenge in life?

I feel like I have had a pretty easy life, to be honest. I guess you could say trying to make it into the NFL has been my biggest challenge, but at the end of the day, I wouldn’t say I have had a challenging life in comparison to the rest of the world.

8)What made you decide you wanted to be a football player?

I can’t remember. It’s not something I woke up one day and decided. It’s just something I have always wanted to do.

9)What do you do for fun?

I like to hang out with my family and friends. Also, since we were stuck at home for awhile, I started to cook more often.

10)What would a team get in a player like you?

A football player. I understand I am not the fastest, tallest, or strongest guy on the field, but I know how to play football. Throughout my career, I played inside WR, outside WR, H-back, punt returner, field goal holder, and multiple other special team spots. I was actually originally recruited to OSU as a corner. I will play any spot on the field, and I will do anything it takes to win.

11) What do you hope to achieve as a football player?

My ultimate goal would be to win the Walter Payton Man of the Year. I think that is such a cool award given to someone who has used their football ability to truly help make the world a better place.

12) If you could hang out with any football player past or present for a day who and why?

Warrick Dunn. Go read his story and you’ll see why.
