2021 NFL Draft Prospect: Sage Surratt, WR, Wake Forest
Yesterday, I broke down Chazz Surratt calling him one of the most athletic and freakish prospects in the 2021 NFL Draft. After finding out about Chazz I learned he had a brother, and boy it was easy to like both the Surratt’s. I fell in love with Chazz, so I then turned to his brother Sage. Sage Surratt is a wide receiver for the Demon Deacons and let me tell you, he may be a better prospect than his brother.
Sage Surratt is a bright kid, I mean he was the Valedictorian of his senior class. It is not everyday you find a kid that is the top of his class and maybe the best athlete of his school.
Surratt was a team captain in high school and only rated a 3 star prospect. The play maker set state records his senior season at Lincolnton High School with 129 receptions, 2104 receiving yards and 28 touchdowns. He was a beast in high school and then was called by the Demon Deacons and the rest is history.
As a true freshman he redshirted, even after being the top wide out in the spring game. In 2018, the Redshirt Freshman was named to the All-Academic team and was the teams second leading receiver with 41 receptions for 581 yards and four touchdowns. He started 9 games and in his first ever game in the ACC tore it up with 150 yards against Tulane.
Last season, Surratt was a first team All-ACC wide out and was a finalist for the Biletnikoff Award. He dominated the ACC, averaging 111.2 yards per game. He led all Power 5 receivers with 1,001 receiving yards before he suffered an injury.
I would not be surprised if Surratt comes back strong this year, and decides to enter the NFL Draft with his brother.
NFL Draft Diamonds Scouting Report:
Sage Surratt is a gifted wide out who stands at 6020 and 215 pounds. He is a natural athlete like his brother Chazz from UNC. Sage Surratt is a smart cookie, the kid was planning on attending Harvard, but decided to play at Wake Forest after comparing the schools business programs. Surratt is a competitor and has been dominating the Power 5 conference, and I feel he is one of the better wide outs in the 2021 NFL Draft if he was to come out early. I think with a huge year he would be crazy not to make the jump. – Damond Talbot, NFL Draft Diamonds Owner
