2021 NFL Draft Prospect: Treshaun Hayward, LB, Western Michigan University

Treshaun Hayward Western Michigan
Western Michigan has a stud linebacker in Treshaun Hayward. I am a fan that fell in love with his ability to get after a ball carrier in 2019.

I love the MAC, it is my favorite division, because I am a Buffalo Bulls fan. So I tend to watch a ton of film on the MAC and who doesn’t love MACtion on ESPN?

Well one player that really jumps off the film is a linebacker from Treshaun Hayward from WMU. The Broncos linebacker had a HUGE year in 2019 that really put himself on the map. I became a huge fan after watching him in 2019 after watching him against Georgia State last year.

He was a three-star prospect and was named the 41st best overall prospect in the state of Michigan. Let me say this, they were wrong. He was a top 10 prospect in the state of Michigan, they just overlooked him. He has a great senior year at Ann Arbor Skyline High School racking up 70 tackles and 18 tackles for loss in 2016. He was named the Ann Arbor News Defensive Player of the Year and also played offense as a running back. He held scholarship offers from 7 MAC schools and Illinois according to his recruiting profile on 247 Sports.

As a true freshman he played a role on special teams for the Broncos. He finished his rookie year with 14 tackles.

As a sophomore, Hayward racked up 23 tackles and one tackle for loss but only started in one game. He played in 10 games total, but started his transition to starting linebacker.

Last season, Hayward logged 142 tackles on the season for the Broncos which was third-most in the nation. He also had 1 forced fumble, 10.5 tackles for loss and 5 sacks on his way to being named an All-American by Sporting News. He was named the 2019 MAC Defensive Player of the Year.

The rest is history, Hayward is destined for a huge year in 2020. Mark my words!

NFL Draft Diamonds Scouting Notes:

Hayward is a 6010 linebacker that weighs 225 pounds and has a non-stop running motor. The Ypsilanti, Michigan native is making these major colleges in Michigan pay for sleeping on him as a prospect. He takes great angles, and is one of the best players in the MAC. You can see the game slowed down to Hayward, he turned into an All-American in one year. He may need to add a little weight but he is a prototypical outside linebacker. – Damond Talbot, NFL Draft Diamonds Owner
