XFL Defensive Rankings heading into week 3
1. DC Defenders
Defenders have a solid defensive line led by Elijah Qualls, Jay Bromley and Anthony Johnson that can get after the quarterback. At linebacker the Defenders are led by Jameer Thurman, Keshun Freeman and Jonathan Celestin. And in the secondary they have Desmond Lawrence, Rahim Moore and Matt Elam. This defense is hard to beat.
2. Houston Roughnecks
Kony Ealy and Corey Crawford lead the way for the Roughnecks defensive line and they are a 1-2 punch. The leader of the linebacking core is Latroy Lewis who does everything. And in the secondary they have Cody Brown who is a beast and Jeremiah Johnson who can do things. The Roughnecks have a solid defense.
3. St Louis Battlehawks
Andrew Ankrah and Gimel President can get to the quarterback and lead the defensive line. Terrance Garvin is the beast in the linebacking core. And in the Secondary Dexter McCoil is a Swiss army knife and they also have Will Hill who plays well. Battlehawks also have a solid defense that does things.
4. Seattle Dragons
Marcel Frazier and Stansly Maponga lead the Dragons defensive line. Steven Johnson is a beast in the linebacking core. And Channing Stribling is the leader of the secondary. The Dragons defense is decent.
5. Dallas Renegades
The Renegades are led by Frank Alexander and Gerald Rivers on the defensive line. And they have Tegray Scales at LB who has been a beast. And in the secondary which needs a little improvement they have Treston Decoud and Tenny Adewusi. I think that the secondary can improve and the Renegades D will get better.
6. Tampa Bay Vipers
First off even though they have the best pass defense right now it’s misleading because they haven’t faced a one of the top QBs yet. On the Dline they have Ricky Walker and Nikita Whitlock as decent pass rushers. Terrance Plummer leads the linebacking core. In the secondary they have Marcelis Branch who has been a beast and Robert Preister and Tarvarus McFadden who have played well. I think that they lack the pass rush and need somebody who’s a threat to be there to help Whitlock.
7. LA Wildcats
Pass Rush is kinda lacking from the Dline they need to put Roderick Henderson out there more. Linebacking core is led by Will Smith who has played decent. And in the secondary they have Harlan Miller who has been awesome this season and Bradley Slyve who they just acquired it’s tough to pass on these 2 guys. If to they can get decent pass rush this d is good.
8. NY Guardians
Let me be clear here the difference between 8 and 5 is not much. But the Guardians are 8 because the Pass rush seems a little inept on the Dline Bunmi Rotimi has been the best Defensive Lineman. And at Linebacker D’Juan Hines is good being the only one who has intercepted Cardale so far. And in the secondary this is also why they are 8 they played so bad week 2 and need to improve.
