Vipers need to trade Quinton Flowers to the Guardians for Luis Perez
The XFL is fun, but what we are learning so far is there is a reason some of these coaches are not in the NFL. They do not know talent anymore. Coaches like Marc Trestman and Kevin Gilbride are not the brightest knives in the drawer and it is obvious.
Both those coaches are struggling in the XFL and they are also the only two teams who have solid quarterbacks on their roster that are not used.
Quinton Flowers has left practice with the Tampa Bay Vipers and he has every right to be upset. Flowers is the best quarterback on the Vipers roster and when he is in the game the ball is being moved down the field. When he is not in the game, they give the duties to Taylor Cornelius who has not been bad but not great either. Aaron Murray has been hurt but he was the week 1 starter. The Vipers need to make a move at quarterback and I can help them out since they do not know what they are doing. I am going to propose a trade for them where both teams win.
Kevin Gilbride of the New York Guardians needs to call the Vipers and trade for Quinton Flowers, and start him over Matt McGloin. It is simple, McGloin is not the answer and neither is former UNC QB Marquise Williams, but if they are so attached to them they need to trade Luis Perez. Perez is probably the best division 2 quarterback to play the game in the past 10 years. Perez is a legit prospect and last week he came in for one drive and led the Guardians down the field in seconds to score a touchdown. He did nothing fancy, he just called the plays and his his receivers.
As for the Vipers, they can land Perez for Flowers. Flowers can go to New York and dominate with some big name wide outs, while Perez can come and manage the offense for Trestman. Perez was in Birmingham with Ron Selesky the former Arena Football League Head Coach who is now in Tampa as their Director of Football Operations. I will go out on a limb and say this, he should be the one calling the plays for the Vipers. Selesky’s record speaks for itself, and I bet he could get more out of Perez/Flowers than Trestman has been able to do.
This move makes too much sense, and I hope we can see this move, because both QB’s need a change of scenery.
