Diamond Talk: Isiah Swann, DB, Dartmouth | Big Green’s Bright Spot
Isiah Swann is a big and physical cornerback for Dartmouth Big Green. He stands at 6 foot tall and weighs 195 pounds. He was considered one of the best defensive backs in Arizona when leaving high school. He was the 9th best defensive back in Arizona according to Scout.com. He finished his senior season for Chandler High School with 52 total tackles, four interceptions and 9 pass break ups, as his team finished second in the state with an 11-2 record.
Dartmouth was not the only team offering Swann, he had offers from the Naval Academy as well as Cornell. Swann has always been a bright young man. He is majoring in Environmental Studies at Dartmouth and will have a bright future after football.
Swann came to Dartmouth and was an instant impact player. He appeared in 10 games as a true Freshman and earned a starting cornerback position after week 4. He was named Ivy League’s Defensive Player and Rookie of the Week after a stunning performance against Towson.
As a Sophomore, Isiah would land an All-Ivy Second Team award after playing in every game starting the last six. He led the Big Green with 2 interceptions and was second on the team with 8 pass break-ups. He also made some big plays on Special Teams blocking a kick.
Last year, Swann was an All-American in the FCS and even finished as a finalist for the Buck Buchanan Award which is the top player in the FCS on Defense. He was the defensive MVP for the Big Green and led all of Division 1 with 9 interceptions, setting a new Dartmouth record in the process. He also finished with 18 pass break ups which was third nationally.
When you watch film of Swann you come away impressed. The kid has it all! He is big, strong, physical and smart. NFL teams are going to love to have him in their secondary. I feel he is going to shine his senior year for the Big Green!
