Panthers have released former Marshall RB Devon Johnson; Team signs O-lineman
The Carolina Panthers announced Thursday that they’ve signed OT Willie Smith to a one-year contract and waived FB Devon Johnson with an injury designation.
The Panthers gave former Marshall running back Devon Johnson a $20,000 signing bonus, matching the total they gave former Duke star Jeremy Cash, according to league sources.
He had a major back issue going into the draft, and this could be related to his back once agian. The team signed offensive tackle Willie Smith. Smith was signed by the Washington Redskins as an undrafted free agent in 2011. He played college football for East Carolina University. He also played for the Oakland Raiders and San Diego Chargers.
