Former Bama cornerback finally allowed to transfer to Georgia
There was a rumor that the University of Alabama would not allow Maurice Smith their former cornerback transfer to Georgia, but that saga has come to an end.
The SEC granted a conditional waiver for Smith to transfer to Georgia for the 2016 season after a battle with his former team that lasted nearly two months.
SEC bylaws typically require that a graduate transfer have two years of eligibility to transfer to an SEC school and also require a player transferring from one SEC school to another to sit out a year. Neither will be the case for Smith, who has one year of eligibility remaining and will be allowed to join the Bulldogs immediately.
This is good news for Georgia and even better news for Smith.
