Dez Bryant is suing his former financial advisor
NFL players are scammed everyday out of money, because they have so much to know what to do with. Today’s victim is Dez Bryant the Dallas Cowboys star wide receiver. According to court documents obtained by Ian Rapoport of NFL.com, Bryant has filed a lawsuit against his former financial advisor Royce West claiming the Texas state senator stole money from Bryant and profited off the star athlete’s name without his knowledge.
Bryant accuses West and his associate David Wells, another former member of Bryant’s inner circle, of using the company Dez Enterprises to secure marketing deals that Bryant never made money from and had no knowledge of, according to Larry Brown Sports.
“West would instruct endorsement companies and others to make payments for any endorsement agreements to Wells, not Bryant,” the suit claims. “Many of these payments stopped at Wells and/or West, but never reached Bryant.”
Bryant claims Wells “absconded” more than $200,000 that was owed to Dez from endorsements and says West was “deliberately silent” about such matters, intentionally keeping Bryant in the dark. He is seeking to recover the money that was allegedly stolen from him in addition to collecting damages, according to the report.
