Jimmy Clausen earned praise from his teammates; Bears not use to a fiery quarterback
The Chicago Bears must not be used to Jay Cutler being fiery, because the Bears team was surprised and encouraged by Jimmy Clausen’s attitude.
Clausen went to slide on a play and Lions defender Ziggy Ansah took a shot at Clausen. That is when Clausen popped up and immediately was in the face of the 6’5 defender. His teammates loved that fire.
“You could see him getting fired up, and that was good to see,” Bears center Roberto Garza said. “He’s a fiery guy, man. He was in the game trying to make plays all through the game, and he was the reason we were in this game.”
Even Matt Forte was pumped:
“I mean, he’s sliding,” Forte said. “That’s a known thing. When a quarterback is running, normally they slide. So if he’s going down into his slide anyways and then it was helmet-to-helmet on top of that, I’d be mad, too.”
Forte said he liked to see Clausen challenging the Lions defenders and said that type of reaction is “expected” from the team’s quarterback.
“That’s football, getting hit like that,” Clausen said. “But, you know, it’s just part of the game. Obviously, I don’t want to get hit like that.
