Falcons add a lot of meat on both sides of the line
Today the Atlanta Falcons added quite a bit of meat on both sides of the football. According to Adam Schefter, the Falcons landed both Jon Asamoah and Paul Solai.
Asamoah was drafted in the third round of the 2010 draft by then-Chiefs General Manager Scott Pioli. Pioli now works in the Atlanta front office, which probably didn’t hurt as they pursued Asamoah over the last few days.
Soliai is a big body with a long track record as a borderline elite run stopper. At 340 pounds, he’s not going to lumber his way in to the quarterback all that often, but that’s not why you have him in the lineup. He occupies space, frees up other players and grinds the opposing run game to a halt.
